At last we touchdown on the Russian side of the brutal but beautiful Arctic Ocean!

Huge recalibration of minds bodies and hearts is needed right from the word go.

The mind shift from artificial warmth and the safety of buildings has all gone. Only a few millimetres of fabric set us free from the wind but not the cold.

Inside our tent inside our sleeping bags is a definite false sense of security and denial. The first few days out here will be easy everything is still dry and adrenaline remains the driving force of cold weather survival…

Today we are lucky the wind has gone the usability could not be better and the ice has far been kind.

The next 24 days or so will be full of surprises I’m sure… but that’s why we are here, nothing is certain except adventure but hopefully not too much !
